Growing Midge Tolerant Wheat comes with a specific set of requirements:

  1.  Sign the SeCan Midge Tolerant Wheat Supplementary Agreement. The link is here (MTW supplementary agreement). Please sign the electronic agreement immediately to maintain access to growing Midge Tolerant Wheat varieties.
  2. All Midge Tolerant Wheat retailers must complete the online retailer training so they can administer the Stewardship Agreements for their customers. If you have not completed the Midge Tolerant Wheat retailer training, please do so ASAP (before March 31, 2023). Click here to complete the training: https://midgetolerantwheat.ca/training/
  3. To avoid confusion, please ensure Stewardship Agreements are signed with customers before they pick up their seed. Once you have competed the training you will receive a retailer number and instructions on how to access the Stewardship data base.
    • If you have outstanding customers from 2022, these must be completed by March 31, 2023
    • For 2023 customers, please ensure all Agreements are signed prior to July 31, 2023 (or ideally before seed is picked up).

Thanks for your on-going support of Midge Tolerant Wheat. Stewardship is necessary to ensure the long term viability of midge tolerance – the best and soon-to-be only tool to combat this pest in western Canada.
