We have a very unique new lentil to release that I can’t wait to cook with 😉…

CDC Onyx CL^®,tested as CDC23.09S, is a specialty small red lentil with black seed coat, very high yield potential and is tolerant to imidazolinone herbicide. With very impressive yield potential, thicker seed, and tolerance to imidazolinone herbicide, CDC Onyx CL^®should be a direct replacement for Indian Head black lentil and rival many conventional small red lentil varieties for yield and agronomics. 

Application deadline is Friday March 13, 2026.

Online Seed Application Process

• Sign in to My SeCan 

• Go to: Apply for Varieties

• Click on the Seed Application button

• In the left-hand boxes:

• Crop Kind: Lentil

• Variety: CDC Onyx CL^® 

• Class: Breeder

• In the center section fill in the quantity being applied for and the default is KG. ·   Breeder seed from the CDC is packaged in 25kg bags so please order in multiples of this size. 

• Click “Next Item”

• At least one option needs to be selected in the sales history section, but you can do more if you wish.

• Finally, put your name in the box and hit Submit. 😊 

You should receive an email confirmation that the application has been submitted, and I’ll try to let you know I got it too. Please check your junk folder as the confirmation may go there.
