Hello SeCan Members, The SeCan Board met recently in conjunction with the virtual SeCan Annual Meeting and heard from staff about highlights of operational activities across Canada – if you missed the meeting, you can watch the short presentation here. Lots going on! Of particular interest to the SeCan Board were actions taken in recent months to bolster our presence relating to the enforcement of intellectual property protection and education. This was identified as a high priority by SeCan members and is consistent with SeCan’s Mission of driving success for independent seed businesses. The SeCan Board also discussed gene editing and access to elite germplasm for our plant breeding partners – to continue delivering leading varieties. These topics are high on the Board’s list of current issues and will be addressed in greater detail at future meetings.
