About this article

Hello Everyone,

As spring approaches, a few quick reminders to ensure everyone is in compliance with their SeCan Membership Agreement – this is important as it ensures we honour commitments to our plant breeding partners.

  • If you are working with a contract grower, be sure you have a written contract with them to ensure the chain of custody of the seed. If a contract grower was to go rogue, it would be the responsibility of the grower supplying the seed. Contracts are critical to ensure everyone understands their obligations.
  • Remember most SeCan varieties have a restricted sales area (for most this is Canada only). This means no seed should be exported from Canada without prior written permission from SeCan.
  • Please also keep in mind that brokers operating on behalf of foreign companies are once again trying to source Canadian genetics – don’t be responsible for arming a competing area with our genetics.

As always please reach out to me or your local marketing rep if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Todd Hyra
