The SeCan Board met recently in conjunction with the virtual SeCan Annual Meeting and heard from staff about highlights of operational activities across Canada – if you missed the meeting, you can watch the short presentation here. Lots going on! During our annual meeting we had a question about cyber security. This is a topic the Board of Directors has also been concerned with over the past couple of years, resulting in a policy of conducting annual cyber security audits of the organization. Staff will address this topic at the fall business meetings, along with some suggested actions for members to help protect their own businesses. Looking ahead to our Fall Board meeting, Directors will continue meeting with key public plant breeding programs. We’ll be in Ottawa in conjunction with GrowCanada and visit breeders and administrators at the Ottawa Research and Development Centre (ORDC). SeCan’s public breeding partnerships have yielded many exceptional new products for members this past year - and staff look forward to discussing those with you. Have a wonderful summer! |
