Dear SeCan Members, We need your help with a confidential survey – so we can confidently tell the story regarding your significant investment in the seed industry. As SeCan enters its 50th year of operations, we are solely focused on ensuring the future success of our nearly 600 member companies across Canada. We know access to leading seed genetics is the most critical thing on your minds and is what will continue to build our association stronger in the future. With recently announced cuts to funding of government programs, it is critical we articulate the scale of potential damage that could result to Canada’s seed industry and broader agricultural sector. Part of telling that story depends on illustrating what is potentially at risk – in terms of the sizeable investments our members have made in their seed operations and local communities. To facilitate telling this story, we have engaged Justin Funk from Agri Studies to conduct an “Investment Survey” on our behalf. We are working with a third party since this will be conducted on a completely CONFIDENTIAL BASIS with no individual member data being shared with SeCan or anyone outside of Agri Studies. These results will be collated in aggregate fashion and shared with participants, allowing you to benchmark yourself, and more importantly, allowing us to advocate for public breeding programs that ensure a continuing return on your sizeable investments in the seed industry.
