"Since 2024, CMBTC has worked with Chinese malting and brewing partners to evaluate CDC Churchill in commercial settings. Early feedback has been positive, with the variety processing well and delivering the quality and flavour brewers expect from Canadian barley. Based on these evaluations, CMBTC understands that Tsingtao, one of China's leading brewers, is considering CDC Churchill for inclusion on its accepted variety list, which would mark an important step in the variety’s market development in China."

Positive market signals suggest CDC Churchill may have strong commercial acreage growth in the future, and members may wish to allocate a few extra acres to CDC Churchill seed production this season in anticipation of seed sales opportunities.
